Aigerim Khafizova is a Fulbright scholar at State University of New York at Albany, U.S. studying Education Management and Policy Studies. Previously she worked as a chief manager at the Department for Alumni Affairs at the JSC «Center for International Programs» (Bolashak Scholarship). Since 2011 she had led the effort to build alumni regional network for the Center and facilitate alumni employment in various sectors of the economy in Kazakhstan from information technologies to education. She received her Bachelor’s degree with Summa cum laude in international relations from Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research in 2009. During her studies she interned at the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.In 2010 she pursued her Postgraduate Professional Development Program at the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars in the U.S. As part of her program she interned at the Open World Leadership Center at the U.S. Congress. During her internship she was responsible for assisting young emerging leaders from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan during orientation programs, facilitating 16 U.S. Student Body Presidents visit to Russia in March 2011, and monitoring the Open World Eco-tourism program hosted by Center for Safe Energy in Berkley, California.Aigerim is a participant of various professional trainings and conferences: International Debate Tournament organized by International Debate Education Association (Italy),12th International Youth Leadership Conference (Czech Republic), Model United Nations (Turkey), International Crisis Game Simulation (Kyrgyzstan), Civic Engagement Project: “Israeli-Palestinian Peace Advocacy on the Capitol Hill” (U.S.A.) and others.Being interested in education policy and management and youth employment, Aigerim organizes trainings on career building for students during annual OSCE Central Asian Youth Network, in addition she leads the project “Navigating Your Career” (one of the chapters of Astana Alumni Association) in Astana to assist recent graduates in their first steps to successful career path in various fields.Aigerim is actively involved in Kutadgu Bilig Society, private nonprofit community that captures an existing Central Asian network, and as part of her contribution to the Global Shapers Community in Astana together with other shapers she is organizing Café Scientifique regular meetings in Astana. Aigerim is fluent in Russian, Kazakh, English, and currently learning French, Turkish and Hebrew. In her spare time Aigerim writes novels and poems, enjoys horseback riding and folk jazz.
