Brenda Darden Wilkerson is a passionate proponent for student, women and underrepresented communities access to technology in education, industry and innovation. She has established herself as a social justice advocate and an education policy creator, author, and speaker and currently leads an international tech women’s advocacy organization, AnitaB.org.After years in the tech industry, Wilkerson found her way into education. Just prior to her new role as President and CEO of the Anita Borg Institute, she served as the Director of Computer Science and IT Education for CPS, and led the “Computer Science for All” program, which works towards establishing Computer Science education policies and standards in the Chicago Public Schools system. She brings this same passion and drive to her new leadership role at AnitaB.org.Wilkerson also worked to develop a program of study for the “Early College STEM Schools” initiative. The curriculum for this program seeks to prepare students for the technological jobs of the future, and the students graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree in Information Technology.
