Mark’s tenure as President and CEO of the Ben Craig Center began in 1998 only after working for eleven years with various small businesses who have achieved recognizable success within the Charlotte region.
He has consulted with over 100 companies on how to solve the sales, marketing, production and financing problems that affect early stage entrepreneurs.His first hand experience with small businesses has allowed him to serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for LEAD Technologies as well as Chief Operating Officer for Handshaw & Associates, during which time the company tripled in size and was twice named to the Business Journal’s “Fast Fifty.”Mark’s perspective on the small business entrepreneur is unique in both theoretical and practical approaches toward building a high-growth company, which has fueled his mission to spur local wealth creation, job growth and attract investment capital to local companies.In addition to his current responsibilities at the Center, Mark sits on the YMCA University Branch Board of Managers, and The Cameron Applied Research Center Board of Directors. He is an active member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Association of Corporate Growth, Society of Technical Communication, Association for Training and Development, and Junior Achievement.Mark holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Bowling Green University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
