Nicos Christodoulakis is a Greek politician, economics professor, and electronics engineer. He was the Minister for Economy and Finance of Greece from 2001 to 2004.Born in Chania, Crete he graduated in electronics engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1975, and he completed his postgraduate studies (MPhill) in Economics at Darwin College, Cambridge in 1981, where he also received a PhD three years later, in 1984.He is currently an economics professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). During his time as Minister of the Economy and Finance, Chrisodoulakis was Chairman of the Finance Ministers Council (ECOFIN) in the European Union, during the Greek presidency. He also chaired Eurogroup where he participated in international meetings with the G7, IMF, and World Bank He was previously Minister for Development responsible for Energy, Industry, Trade, Tourism, and Research.Earlier on in his career, he was Economic Advisor to the then Prime Minister Simitis.At various stages in his career, he has lectured overseas in economics including Charles University in Prague.
