In 2011, Raaida Mannaa (www.raaidamannaa.com) was the Coordinator of the 2nd World Summit for Youth Volunteering (www.partners.net/worldsummit), a unique event made by youth and for youth, that took place in Barranquilla, Colombia, following the 1st Summit that took place in Tokyo in 2001, that was one of the official events in which the United Nations Volunteers (www.unv.org) launched its International Year of Volunteers program.The Summit, held by the International Association for Volunteer Effort (www.iave.org) and Partners of the Americas (www.partners.net), wasn’t an ending celebration; it was just the beginning. The youth present created red2021 (www.iave.org/content/red2021-campaign), a Latin-American campaign, from which Raaida is Co-founder, linking their personal and organizational volunteering commitments. red2021, its pledges and Ambassadors, now give birth to Global Youth Volunteers (www.iave.org/gyvolunteers), an envisioned online-based platform that seeks to engage and connect every young volunteer and their initiatives worldwide, building the largest and strongest virtual community of active youth volunteers on the planet. Raaida, Founder of the initiative, is currently its Project Manager.Selected by the Spanish Government as a representative of Colombia in the Iberoamerican Leaders Program (www.redcarolina.net/piv/jovenes-lideres-iberoamericanos-2012.html) and as a One Young World Delegate (www.oneyoungworld.org) through the All Bar None Competition (www.oneyoungworld.com/all-bar-none), Raaida is also a consultant, advisor and volunteer in the areas of strategic communication and networking, international development and cooperation, multilateral alliances and implementation of social projects for different regional, national and international Government Agencies and Nonprofit Organizations.
