Ryan Riley is founder of the multi-award-winning Life Kitchen and Life Kitchen Cookery School, which offers free cooking classes focused on taste and flavor to people living with cancer. When Riley’s mother Krista passed away from cancer, he couldn’t have imagined that the most depressing time in his life would lead to helping and changing lives of others. As a food writer and stylist, food formed a big part of his life. However, throughout his mom’s two-year battle with cancer, Riley experienced first-hand how chemotherapy was affecting her taste and ability to enjoy food. This was an unexpected consequence of the chemotherapy but one that Riley found affected his mother greatly. It too, affected him, and after her passing he struggled with the notion that she found it difficult to find anything she wanted to eat in the months before she died.Life Kitchen’s mission is to help cancer patients and survivors learn recipes designed to help mitigate the demoralizing and often dramatic changes in taste that result from the treatment, and to do so alongside others facing similar challenges. In addition, Riley is the author of “Life Kitchen: Recipes to revive the joy of taste & flavour,” a cookbook set to release in 2020.Contact a speaker booking agent to check availability on Ryan Riley and other top speakers and celebrities.
