Dr. Hale is the CEO and Founder of OneWorld Health, the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company in the US. Since its inception in 2000, OneWorld Health has been working to develop safe, effective, and affordable medicines for people in developing countries, and its pipeline has grown to include treatments for diseases that plague the world’s poorest people, including visceral leishmaniasis, pediatric diarrhea, and malaria.Dr. Hale was named as an Ashoka Fellow in 2006, a select group of leading social entrepreneurs who drive innovative and uncommon solutions and transformative social change work. In 2005 Dr. Hale and OneWorld Health were recognized with the Economist Innovation Award for Social and Economic Innovation, to highlight the importance of individual thinking and innovation in the business world.
